Further to my post about fasciation in some local Thistles, I have continued to watch how they grow as they develop. The flowers with fasciation opened before the unaffected ones and are over before the normal one open.
Always a fascinating phenomenon. I am looking forward to your seed-photographs, hope you won’t miss that special day.

I was wondering if fascinated thistle seed will grow as fascinated plans or normal ones may collect some seed and try and grow in the garden.

I found fasciations also on foxglove and flatweed and dandelion. They say, sometimes there are mites as a cause with flatweed and dandelions, with foxglove genetics, but still without proof.

This flatweed did not spread offsprings, yet.

I am thinking that I may have missed the flowers on the fascinated thistles near here. I have been visiting frequently, hoping to get a photo, but no luck yet. Other thistles are starting to flower and go over. Still keeping my fingers crossed for a good picture like yours. Thanks for posting, Andy.
