That was great Andy. I enjoyed the video and kept wondering why the heron didn’t just take it to go and get away from the water and enjoy it there. I imagine the poor eel (did I say that) was so traumatized from being pecked and bitten that it would not have much fight left in him. Interesting with the flicker of white tail feathers a few times and backing up from it a few times. I expected it to get stuck in that long neck – no wonder it needed such a big drink afterward.

Thanks, Wayne it was great to watch him, he caught the eel in deep water but knew to come over to the shoreside for the feast.

The Heron was on the other side of the water up to the top of his legs when he caught the eel and flew to the shallow water to tackle it.
