I went to watch Sanderling’s on the shore but sadly people walking on the beach wandering along put them up just as I got out of the van. I was just in time to see a flock of about 30 flying off down the coast.
I did spot a little brown bird – a LBB in bird watcher speak. In the seaweed catching sand hoppers was a Meadow Pippit.

Such a humble little guy!

Some of these LBB are often overlooked.

Learned a new acronym…LBB! Gotta note that in our bird journal. Thanks for sharing.

Like Esther, I learned a new acronym too! People here go crazy for white-throated sparrows and I sometimes think all sparrows look alike, but I guess if the white throat is obvious ….

White-throated sparrows are not a bird we have in the UK so one here would be a frenzy for twitchers here! Glad you learned a new acronym too I wonder if it is a term used in the USA.

I have not heard it, but I’m not officially what you’d call a “birder” though I follow the Detroit Audubon group on Facebook to see where they go and what they see (often they see more than I do at the same exact venue and time). Now the Detroit Audubon Society group on Facebook love those White-throated sparrows and take lots of photos of them.
