Since our visit last week we had to visit Southsea again today for our second COVID jab passing LCT7074 on the way home the fencing had been removed so I stopped to take some better picture. Link above to my earlier post.

This landing craft is the last surviving example of more than 800 tank carrying landing craft that served at D-Day on 6 June 1944. LCT 7074. She carried 10 tanks and crew members to Normandy. It has recently finished a 4 year retoration project and be moved to the D-Day museum in Southsea near Portsmouth. The National Museum of the Royal Navy managed the works with the support from The National Lottage Heritage Fund. The craft was recovered from Birkenhead docks where it was used as a nightclub until it fell into disrepair and later sank.
