N is for Nuthatch.

An agile bird about the size of a chaffinch they can descend head-first and hang upside down beneath twigs and branches. I took this short film yesterday in the New Forest, the still pictures I have posted in the past during the summer.

Length:14 cm Wingspan:22.5-27cm Weight:20-25 g

  1. I like how they descend headfirst down the tree. He/she was pleased with itself for its find. I’ve only seen the white-breasted nuthatches here but we do have the one you have featured as I follow a Wild Birds Unlimited site and they show native Michigan birds and it is one of them.
